Weigang Field

Pipeline Resources, and three other oil and gas companies, acquired a producing property, the Weigang Field, in April 2001. The field is comprised of 2,752 surface acres and is approximately 70 miles southeast of San Antonio . The Weigang Field is also referred to as the Fashing Field due to its location in the southeastern portion of the Atascosa County, Texas near the small community of Fashing.

Production from the field was first initiated in July 1946. Subsequent drilling of 35-40 wells in the immediate vicinity defined a productive anomaly as a long, relatively narrow structure with the major axis being parallel to a northeast-southwest tending up-to-the-coast fault. The Weigang Field is the largest Carrizo discovered to date.

Currently the lease is producing oil from 26 wells on six leases at a daily production rate of 200 BOPD. There remains the potential to test an oil sand that is behind pipe in a large number of the existing wells on this property, if this rework proves to be successful, it could add an additional 4 million barrels of recoverable oil to this project. A concerted effort to test this formation will begin this fall.
